Basketball Recap: Buena Park Comes Up Short

Buena Park suffered their biggest defeat since November 21, 2024 on Saturday. They took a blow against the Brentwood School Eagles, falling 66-39. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Eagles are ranked 20th).

Brentwood School's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jessica Liu, who went 6 for 12 en route to 19 points and eight boards. Liu continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Lev Feiman was another key player, going 7 of 11 on her way to 16 points and five rebounds.

Buena Park moved to 14-6 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Brentwood School, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Buena Park will take on Valencia at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Valencia will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Buena Park surely won't give up without a fight. As for Brentwood School, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-42 defeat against Sage Hill on the 18th.
