Softball Game Preview: Southern Boone Eagles vs. Blair Oaks Falcons

Southern Boone hasn't had much luck against Blair Oaks recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will welcome the Falcons at 5:30 p.m. Southern Boone is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Southern Boone didn't have quite enough to beat Linn and fell 4-3.

Abigail Haskamp was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Hickman hit Blair Oaks with a five-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons lost 8-2 to the Kewpies. That's two games in a row now that the Falcons have lost by exactly six runs.

Blair Oaks saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lydia Sullens, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Jacy Lowrance also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Blair Oaks' loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Southern Boone, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-9.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Southern Boone hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Blair Oaks struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Southern Boone came out on top in a nail-biter against Blair Oaks in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
