Softball Recap: Coronado Comes Up Short

Coronado lost against Widefield last Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cougars fell 7-4 to the Gladiators. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Coronado saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Breckyn Trujillo, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Alyssa Leland also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Coronado's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Widefield, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-2-1 record this season.

Coronado didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-4 defeat against Mesa Ridge on the 3rd. As for Widefield, they will welcome Canon City at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Gladiators will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
