Baseball Recap: Walnut Grove Takes a Loss

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last three times Walnut Grove and Madison County have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. Walnut Grove took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Madison County. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Walnut Grove saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Martell, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Walnut Grove dropped their record down to 12-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Madison County, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-16.

While Walnut Grove had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
