Softball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends Effingham County's Winning Streak

Effingham County dropped down to 25-7 on Monday, ending the team's 11-game streak of wins. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Seckinger Jaguars. The Rebels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

As for Seckinger, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

For Seckinger's part, Annmarie Nagy spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Milan Torres, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September. Ma'At Willis was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Effingham County beat Seckinger by a score of 6-3 later that day.
