Softball Game Preview: Boonville Pirates vs. Eldon Mustangs

The Boonville Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Eldon Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Boonville fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Fulton on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 7-6. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Meanwhile, Eldon hadn't done well against Russellville recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out the Indians 6-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

The team relied heavily on Madison Atwell, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Stark, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Boonville's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Eldon, their win bumped their record up to 13-4.

Boonville was able to grind out a solid victory over Eldon in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
