Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Ranch Hawks vs. Natomas Nighthawks

The Liberty Ranch Hawks will take on the Natomas Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty Ranch will be looking to extend their current 23-game winning streak.

Liberty Ranch is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Galt: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Liberty Ranch blew Galt out of the water with a 63-17 final score. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 games by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Liberty Ranch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Haley Smith, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Smith's fourth in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Madisyn Robbins, who went 6-for-7 to rack up 12 points and three steals.

Liberty Ranch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Natomas rose to the challenge on Monday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 51-50 victory over the Mustangs.

Liberty Ranch's win was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 25-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points over those games. As for Natomas, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 16-12 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Liberty Ranch against Natomas when the teams last played back in December of 2018, as the team secured a 63-31 victory. Will Liberty Ranch repeat their success, or does Natomas have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
