Basketball Recap: Paraclete Comes Up Short

Paraclete lost against St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Paraclete Spirits were outmatched by the St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors and fell 53-24. While losing is never fun, the Spirits can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1225th, while the Warriors are ranked 555th).

Paraclete has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Paraclete will welcome St. Genevieve at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Genevieve will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Paraclete surely won't give up without a fight. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, they will host Sacred Heart of Jesus at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
