Baseball Game Preview: Wheeler Wildcats vs. Walton Raiders

Wheeler hasn't had much luck against Walton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wheeler Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Walton Raiders at 5:55 p.m. Wheeler has given up an average of 9.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Wheeler is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They lost 12-2 to Etowah.

Wheeler saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Greenwood, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Walton and Cherokee, and Walton kept the tradition alive. Walton walked away with a 6-3 win over Cherokee on Friday.

Walton is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Wheeler's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Wheeler suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Walton in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Wheeler avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
