Preview: Jenkintown Drakes vs. Collegium Charter Cougar
The Jenkintown Drakes will head out on the road to face off against the Collegium Charter Cougar at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jenkintown is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Jenkintown suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Saturday. Their rough 42-21 loss to Germantown Friends might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Jenkintown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 474th, while Germantown Friends is ranked 168th).
Meanwhile, Collegium Charter beat Delaware County Christian 37-28 on Thursday. The victory was just what Collegium Charter needed coming off of a 73-34 loss in their prior matchup.
Collegium Charter found their leader in underclassman Nasira Towles, who scored 19 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Towles has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ciani Hamilton, who scored three points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Jenkintown has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Collegium Charter, their win bumped their record up to 3-11.
Jenkintown and Collegium Charter were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but Jenkintown came up empty-handed after a 30-29 loss. Can Jenkintown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
