Recap: West Shamokin Wolves vs. Penns Manor Comets
The West Shamokin Wolves lost against the Penns Manor Comets back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. West Shamokin was outmatched by Penns Manor on the road and fell 57-29. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Shamokin in their matchups with Penns Manor: they've now lost six in a row.
Alyssa Altemus continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Penns Manor, scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Altemus has scored at least a third of Penns Manor's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Shaffer, who scored 11 points along with six assists.
West Shamokin dropped their record down to 5-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Penns Manor, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-3.
West Shamokin will head out on the road to challenge Karns City at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Karns City presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than West Shamokin in Pennsylvania (Karns City is ranked 177th, while West Shamokin is ranked 417th). As for Penns Manor, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against United at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully United focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
