Soccer Game Preview: Brookwood vs. Northgate

The Brookwood Broncos will square off against the Northgate Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

It looked like the Kentucky Derby when Brookwood faced off against Meadowcreek two weeks ago. The Broncos came up short against the Mustangs, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, Brookwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Meadowcreek are ranked 36th).

Meanwhile, Northgate waltzed into their game two weeks ago with five straight wins... but they left with six. While the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was the Vikings who were credited with the victory. Northgate got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to East Coweta's four.

Northgate's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 27 goals over those five matchups. As for Brookwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
