Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Mustangs vs. Centennial Huskies

Roosevelt hasn't had much luck against Centennial recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Roosevelt Mustangs will take on the Centennial Huskies at 7:00 p.m.

Roosevelt is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-44 heartbreaker at the hands of Santiago.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Centennial). They breezed by Norco to the tune of 94-9 on Tuesday. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Cougars are ranked 1020th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Centennial pushed their record up to 9-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Roosevelt, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-7.

Roosevelt was taken down by Centennial 93-39 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Roosevelt avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
