Softball Recap: Red Oak Comes Up Short

Red Oak had lost 25 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-26 to make it 26. They lost 10-1 to the Lewis Central Titans. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Titans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 13-0 loss back in June.

As for Lewis Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-9 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 23 matches by six runs or more this season.

For Lewis Central's part, Emerson Coziahr spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. Coziahr has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lewis Central let Camryn King and Cami Damgaard run wild. King got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Damgaard went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Mackenzie Nailor was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Red Oak does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lewis Central, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Creston on the 12th.
