Baseball Recap: Midwest Central Comes Up Short

Midwest Central had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 8-13 to make it five. They lost 16-1 to the Brimfield Indians. If the Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 16-0 to the Indians when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Midwest Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Calvin Young, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

As for Brimfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-3 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Brimfield's side, Griffin Hougham made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Hougham posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Brimfield let Connor Doe and Brody Kenney run wild. Doe went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run, while Kenney went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Brashen Butler also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Midwest Central will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Monmouth United at 11:00 a.m. The Raiders will need to watch out since the Red Storm have now posted at least ten runs in their last six games. As for Brimfield, they will venture away from home to face off against Roanoke-Benson/Lowpoint-Washburn at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
