Softball Game Preview: Elkhorn North Wolves vs. Bennington Badgers

Elkhorn North is 1-9 against Bennington since October of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Wolves will take on the Badgers at 6:30 p.m. Elkhorn North's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Bennington's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Elkhorn North can't be too worried about heading out to take on Bennington: they just beat Crete at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Wolves walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Cardinals on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bennington). They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over Burke on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Badgers, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Allie Boever looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alyssa Anderson was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August. Emery Schmidt also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Bennington hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Elkhorn North's record now sits at 12-7. As for Bennington, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Elkhorn North couldn't quite finish off Bennington when the teams last played on September 11th and fell 5-3. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
