Basketball Recap: Gabriella Alvarado's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Laton over Alpaugh

Laton lost against Alpaugh back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Mustangs came up short against the Buffalos, falling 42-22.

Laton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Gabriella Alvarado, who posted nine points. That was a full 40.9% of Laton's points, marking the third time in a row Alvarado has scored more than a third of the team's points.

Alpaugh's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashley Galindo, who had 12 points. That's the most points Galindo has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Sixtos, who put up ten points.

Laton's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Alpaugh, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laton will take on Wonderful College Prep Academy in a holiday battle at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Alpaugh, they will be home for the holidays to greet Frazier Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
