Baseball Recap: Calvary Christian Gets the Win

After losing to Strong Rock Christian the last time they met, Calvary Christian decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Calvary Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Strong Rock Christian on Thursday, sneaking past 9-8. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Braylen Frierson looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Bryson Brooks was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Tripp Ellison was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Calvary Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. Strong Rock Christian now has a losing record of 8-9.

Looking ahead, Calvary Christian will square off against Shaw at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Strong Rock Christian, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Frederica Academy at 6:00 p.m. on April 10.
