Softball Game Preview: North Andrew Cardinals vs. Freeman Falcons

The North Andrew Cardinals will take on the Freeman Falcons at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: North Andrew has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Freeman will arrive with three straight wins.

It was a proper cat-fight when North Andrew duked it out with Pattonsburg on Thursday. The Cardinals fell 9-6 to the Panthers. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since September 25, 2019, but that streak is no more.

Meanwhile, Freeman was able to grind out a solid victory over Wilber-Clatonia on Thursday, taking the game 5-2.

The team relied heavily on Taelyn Lang, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 15 matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryleigh Crouse, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Freeman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in three consecutive games.

Freeman now has a winning record of 9-8. As for North Andrew, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. North Andrew has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Freeman struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

North Andrew skirted past Freeman 4-3 in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
