Football Game Preview: Montevideo Thunderhawks vs. Minnewaska Area Lakers

The Montevideo Thunderhawks will square off against the Minnewaska Area Lakers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Montevideo's offense hasn't had much luck over their past six contests, but Friday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Montevideo's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Dassel-Cokato on Friday. They had to suffer through a 58-0 loss at the hands of the Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Thunderhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Chargers are ranked 50th).

Meanwhile, after only six points in their last game, Minnewaska Area made sure to put some points up on the board against Sauk Centre on Friday. The Lakers blew past the Mainstreeters, posting a 40-6 win.

The victory got Minnewaska Area back to even at 3-3. As for Montevideo, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Montevideo took a serious blow against Minnewaska Area in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 37-0. Can the Thunderhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
