Softball Game Preview: McCluer North Stars vs. Clayton Greyhounds

The McCluer North Stars will head out on the road to challenge the Clayton Greyhounds at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with McCluer North sitting on eight straight wins and Clayton on five.

On Thursday, McCluer North got the win against Hazelwood East by a conclusive 17-2. Fans of the Stars have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Amya Adams looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk).

On the hitting side, Mia Williams was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Marayah Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

McCluer North always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Clayton made easy work of Hazelwood East on Tuesday and carried off an 18-8 victory. The Greyhounds are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the fifth game they've won by 6+ runs this season.

McCluer North's record now sits at 8-0. As for Clayton, their record is now 5-1.

McCluer North might still be hurting after the 14-6 defeat they got from Clayton when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Stars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
