Softball Recap: Glendale Prep Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Highland Prep West

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Glendale Prep Academy). They put the hurt on the Highland Prep West HORNETS with a sharp 24-3 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Griffins, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Raegan Rockey made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Sophia Nakachi was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Natalie Whipple was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Glendale Prep Academy's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-4. As for Highland Prep West, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glendale Prep Academy will head out to take on Mountainside at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 23.2 runs per game on average), something the Griffins will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Highland Prep West, they will venture away from home to square off against Madison Highland Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
