Baseball Recap: Kellogg Takes a Loss

Kellogg extended their losing streak to nine on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-19. They came up short against the Allegan Tigers, falling 10-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Allegan, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-16. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games.

For Allegan's part, Logan Osbourne made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Osbourne has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Allegan's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 6-15 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, John Dial was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. He has become a key player for Allegan: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-16 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Tyler Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

While Kellogg had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
