Basketball Recap: Mar Vista Falls Despite Big Games from Anissa Smith and Allyson Bell

Mar Vista lost against Southwest SD last Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Mar Vista Mariners took a 55-39 bruising from the Southwest SD Raiders.

Mar Vista's loss came despite strong showings from Allyson Bell and Anissa Smith. Bell dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Smith almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Bell a new career-high in blocks (six).

Southwest SD's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jazlyn Martinez, who posted 17 points. Analisa Valencia was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Mar Vista has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Southwest SD, they pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
