Recap: Oceanside Pirates vs. Santa Margarita Eagles
It was a good run, but the Oceanside Pirates unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a hard 55-36 fall against Santa Margarita. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Oceanside has scored all season.
Oceanside's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Martina Griffin, who scored 16 points along with seven steals. Griffin scored a full 44.4% of Oceanside's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kaitlyn Kaye was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Oceanside's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Santa Margarita, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
