Softball Recap: Lexington Sets Scoring Season-High Against Southern Valley/Alma

Lexington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Southern Valley/Alma, falling 19-4. On the bright side, the four- run effort marked the Minutemen's highest-scoring match to date.

Lexington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ximena Gomez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Gomez has snagged this season.

Lexington's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Southern Valley/Alma, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lexington will square off against McCook at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bison have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.25 runs per game on average), something the Minutemen will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Southern Valley/Alma, they will head out to challenge Cozad at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southern Valley/Alma's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Haymakers have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
