Basketball Recap: Aquinas Academy Piles Up the Points Against Springdale

Aquinas Academy's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 47-13 victory over the Springdale Dynamos. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-8.

Aquinas Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tess Duer led the charge by putting up nine points in addition to five boards and five steals. Duer is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carly Bezila, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Aquinas Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.

The win got Aquinas Academy back to even at 4-4. As for Springdale, they moved to 3-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Aquinas Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Joseph at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025. St. Joseph will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Aquinas Academy surely won't give up without a fight. Springdale and Ringgold will round out the year against one another at at 5:30 p.m. on December 27th.
