Basketball Game Preview: Mariposa County Grizzlies vs. Summerville Bears

The Mariposa County Grizzlies and the Summerville Bears will meet on Wednesday for a tough Bear Battle. Summerville took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Mariposa County, who comes in off a win.

Mariposa County took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Turlock Christian 59-15. The match marked the Grizzlies' most dominant win of the season so far.

Mariposa County found their leader in freshman Kylee Hutchings, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for Hutchings. The team also got some help courtesy of Denise Corona, who posted nine points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Meanwhile, Summerville's undefeated season came to an end after five games on Tuesday. They were beaten by Atwater 86-9. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-5.

Having lost for the first time this season, Summerville fell to 5-1. As for Mariposa County, they moved to 3-4 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Mariposa County might still be hurting after the 51-25 defeat they got from Summerville in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Mariposa County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
