Softball Recap: Elkhorn South Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Elkhorn South unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 15-9 to the Millard West Wildcats on Thursday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Margaret Weiss and Ollie Songster stepped up to the plate in a big way. Weiss went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Songster got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Macy Schneider, who went 4-for-5 with one run.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Elkhorn South is set to face off against their familiar foe Lincoln East at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Millard West will challenge rival Fremont at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
