Basketball Recap: Weston Ranch Takes a Loss

Weston Ranch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 76-20 loss at the hands of the McNair Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1018th, while the Eagles are ranked 397th).

Despite the loss, Weston Ranch had strong showings from Lila Harper, who went 5 of 11 en route to 10 points along with seven boards and three blocks, and Ja'Naysha Green, who posted three points and six steals. Harper has been hot, having posted two or more blocks the last six times she's played.

McNair was led to victory by Kalysa Phanhsavang and Anjulie Navarro. Phanhsavang almost dropped a triple-double on 23 points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists, while Navarro went 12 for 16 on her way to 27 points in addition to six assists and five steals. The dominant performance gave Phanhsavang a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Lilly Vongdeng, Sengmany, who went 6 of 7 en route to 14 points.

Weston Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for McNair, they pushed their record up to 9-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Weston Ranch didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-34 loss against Stagg on the 23rd. McNair has also already played their next contest, a 65-48 win against Franklin on the 23rd.
