Baseball Recap: Clifton Central Comes Up Short

Clifton Central couldn't beat Reed-Custer on Friday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the sixth inning. Clifton Central fell just short of Reed-Custer by a score of 13-11. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Clifton Central of the 7-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Clifton Central's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Reed-Custer, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clifton Central will face off against Illinois Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19 runs per game on average), something the Comets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Reed-Custer, they will venture away from home to take on Peotone at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Comets are facing the Blue Devils at the right time seeing as the Blue Devils are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
