Recap: Northern Cambria Colts vs. River Valley Panthers
The Northern Cambria Colts's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by River Valley at home and fell 73-38. Northern Cambria was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-21.
It was another big night for Ava Persichetti, who scored 27 points along with eight rebounds and two steals for River Valley. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Persichetti has scored at least a third of River Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emilee Staats, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Northern Cambria dropped their record down to 2-12 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for River Valley, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-4.
Northern Cambria will be playing in front of their home fans against Ferndale at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Ferndale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Thursday. As for River Valley, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against West Shamokin at 3:15 p.m. on January 27th. West Shamokin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 397th, while River Valley is ranked 104th).
