Volleyball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Maranatha Christian Academy's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Maranatha Christian Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-match winning streak on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Axtell. Maranatha Christian Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Axtell apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Maranatha Christian Academy was not able to win a set, but it sure wasn't from a lack of trying: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-23.

Maggie Brisk paced Maranatha Christian Academy's offense, picking up seven kills. Brisk got some help from Abby Nash and her 17 assists.

Maranatha Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 24-4. As for Axtell, their win bumped their record up to 12-9-7.

Maranatha Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Leavenworth on the 4th. As for Axtell, they will venture away from home to take on Doniphan West on Monday.
