Recap: Argonaut Mustangs vs. Calaveras Red Hawks
The Argonaut Mustangs lost against the Calaveras Red Hawks back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Argonaut took a 41-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calaveras. Argonaut has struggled against Calaveras recently, as their match on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
It was another big night for Izzy Tapia, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds for Calaveras. Tapia is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Emma Clark was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds.
Argonaut now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Calaveras, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Argonaut will take on Sonora at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sonora is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Calaveras won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Liberty Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. One thing working in Liberty Ranch's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
