Basketball Recap: Palm Springs' Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday + How To Watch

After flying high against Indio on Thursday, Palm Springs came back down to earth. The Indians came up short against the Marymount Sailors on Friday, falling 47-23. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-5.

When it comes to explaining why Palm Springs lost, don't look at Shayla Bates. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Bates is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last 15 games she's played dating back to last season. Chianti Tolentino was another key player, putting up four steals.

Marymount got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Reese Jerkens out in front who posted 17 points. Another player making a difference was Alianna Hong, who earned 12 points.

With the defeat, Palm Springs broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2. As for Marymount, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Palm Springs will head out on the road to take on Cathedral City at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marymount, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Indio at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
