Soccer Game Preview: Unioto vs. Alexander

The Unioto Shermans are taking a road trip to face off against the Alexander Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Unioto's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Ironton as they made off with a 5-0 victory. The result kept Unioto happy, as they haven't lost a game since September 27th.

They hit Ironton with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Luke Mautz (2), Elliott Allsop (2), and Bryce Derringer.

Meanwhile, Alexander made easy work of McClain on Wednesday and carried off a 9-1 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Alexander's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while McClain are ranked 526th).

Unioto has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 43 goals over those six matches. As for Alexander, their win bumped their record up to 11-7-1.

Unioto beat Alexander by a goal in their previous matchup back in September, winning 2-1. Do the Shermans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
