Basketball Recap: Greenway Takes a Loss

Greenway was the 62-59 winner over Cortez when they last played one another on December 3rd, but their luck changed this time around. The Greenway Demons took a 53-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cortez Colts on Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Greenway lost, don't look at Gauge Rinehart. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Carlos Diaz, who put up eight points.

Greenway's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Cortez, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Greenway didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-60 defeat against Estrella Foothills on the 28th. As for Cortez, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Coronado at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Cortez is facing Coronado at the right time seeing as Coronado is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
