Basketball Recap: Elena Vizcay's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Vacaville Christian over Lindhurst

After flying high against San Juan last Tuesday, Vacaville Christian came back down to earth. The Vacaville Christian Falcons took a 45-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lindhurst Blazers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blazers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 31-30 back in January.

Vacaville Christian lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Elena Vizcay, who posted 12 points and eight steals. She has become a key player for Vacaville Christian: the team is 13-6 when she posts at least three steals, but 2-4 otherwise. Danielle Ruff was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 17 rebounds.

Ashlynn Wheeler was nothing short of spectacular for Lindhurst: she dropped a triple-double with 16 points, 11 boards, and ten steals. Wheeler continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Yolanda Gonzalez, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 14 rebounds.

Vacaville Christian's record now sits at 15-10. As for Lindhurst, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-6.

Vacaville Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-4 victory against Highlands on the 11th. As for Lindhurst, they have also already played their next matchup, a 39-18 win against Mesa Verde on the 11th.
