Softball Recap: Lithonia Takes a Loss

Lithonia had lost seven straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 4-13 to make it eight. They fell just short of the Redan Raiders by a score of 16-15. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 28-12 back in August.

Nifemi Jayeoba made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Kayla Washington, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases and two runs.

As for Redan, they moved to 6-6 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since September 10, 2024.

On Redan's side, the team relied heavily on SALIMATOU DIALLU, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave DIALLU a new career-high. SIMONE OWENS also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Looking ahead, Lithonia will host Southwest DeKalb at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 10.1 runs per game this season. As for Redan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Stone Mountain at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
