Basketball Recap: South Tahoe Victorious

South Tahoe won the last time they faced McQueen and things went their way on Saturday too. The South Tahoe Vikings pulled ahead with a 36-35 photo finish over the McQueen Lancers.

South Tahoe had a senior duo take command as Campbell Mathews dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards and Avery Long dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Long a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Milan Riva, who posted two points and 13 rebounds.

South Tahoe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 13 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why McQueen lost, don't look at Brooklyn Pimpl. Despite the final result, she went 5 of 9 on her way to 14 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Baumgardner, who had eight points.

South Tahoe has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-8 record this season. As for McQueen, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

South Tahoe will face off against McQueen at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for McQueen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Manogue at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
