Softball Recap: Caney Valley Comes Up Short

Chelsea hit Caney Valley with a four-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Trojans took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dragons. It was the first time this season that the Trojans let down their fans at home.

Anderly Edwards put in work while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Riley Brooks was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. Adesta Henry also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Caney Valley suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 4-3. As for Chelsea, their record now sits at 3-8.
