Softball Recap: Auburn Wins Going Away Against Falls City

Auburn came out on top against Falls City on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run second inning. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 12-0 win. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Kollins Wehenkel was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Ariale Franke also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Auburn's record now sits at 9-4. As for Falls City, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Looking ahead, Auburn will square off against Fairbury at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jeffs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.09 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Falls City, their road trip will continue as they head out to face Southern/Diller-Odell at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. Falls City's pitcher better be ready for this one: Southern/Diller-Odell has averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
