After flying high against Flagstaff on Friday, Phoenix Country Day came back down to earth. The Phoenix Country Day Eagles fell to the Miami Vandals 54-49. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aila Kaibara, who posted 15 points and three steals. The game was Kaibara's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Olivia Owens was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Leading Miami to victory were Tamia Pietila and Demetria Dosela. Pietila dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards, while Dosela earned 18 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Dosela is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Pietila, who scored six points and seven boards.

Phoenix Country Day's loss dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Miami, they pushed their record up to 19-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Phoenix Country Day wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 62-4 win against Santa Cruz Valley on the 21st. As for Miami, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-36 victory against Leading Edge Academy - GEC on the 21st.
