Baseball Recap: Fairmont Comes Up Short

Monday just wasn't the day for Fairmont's offense. They came up short against the Troy Trojans on Monday, falling 6-0. The Firebirds' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Brett Hilty was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Fairmont saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Doty, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.

Fairmont's loss dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Troy, their victory bumped their record up to 21-3.

Looking ahead, Fairmont will take on Milford at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Troy, they will head out to challenge Beavercreek at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
