Basketball Recap: Boulder Creek Skates Past Shadow Ridge with Ease

Boulder Creek won the last time they faced Shadow Ridge and things went their way on Friday too. The Boulder Creek Jaguars simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Shadow Ridge Stallions 67-39. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Stallions are ranked 160th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Boulder Creek's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mick Riordan, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 16 points. Matthew Delgado was another key player, going 5 for 9 en route to 16 points and five rebounds.

Boulder Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Shadow Ridge lost, don't look at Marshawn McCullum. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 16 on his way to 18 points. The match was McCullum's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Garcia, who posted seven points.

Boulder Creek is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.1 points per game. As for Shadow Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Boulder Creek didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-44 win against Apollo on the 14th. Shadow Ridge has also already played their next game, a 64-46 victory against Tolleson on the 14th.
