Basketball Recap: Lincoln Victorious

It's playoff time, and Lincoln had no trouble coming through when it counted. They slipped by the Pleasant Grove Eagles 50-49 on Tuesday. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Eagles are ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Pleasant Grove lost, don't look at Kate Myers. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 24 points and ten boards. The contest was Myers' third in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyla Alvarado, who posted ten points.

Lincoln is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 18-9.

Looking ahead, Lincoln will square off against Oak Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Pleasant Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
