Softball Game Preview: Wray/Yuma Eagles vs. Holyoke Dragons

Wray/Yuma and Holyoke are an even 5-5 against one another since August of 2022, but likely not for long. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wray/Yuma has three straight wins, Holyoke has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Wray/Yuma's victory against Limon wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Badgers 7-5.

Priscylla White spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits.

On the hitting side, Clara Oestman was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Lauren Gdanitz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

Holyoke might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 12-1 to Platte Valley, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Holyoke's defeat dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Wray/Yuma, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.

Wray/Yuma took their win against Holyoke in their previous meeting on September 5th by a conclusive 9-3 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
