Basketball Recap: Mercy Comes Up Short

Mercy extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 6-6. They came up short against the Crystal Springs Uplands Gryphons, falling 43-20. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Bears who fell 31-28 when the teams previously met back in January of 2025.

As for Crystal Springs Uplands, their record now sits at 7-3. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 23 points or more this season.

Crystal Springs Uplands got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Riley Martin out in front who posted six points and 16 rebounds. That's the most boards Martin has posted since back in December of 2024. Sophia Cervantes was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Mercy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 39-29 loss against Presentation on the 17th. As for Crystal Springs Uplands, they will face off against Sacred Heart Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
