Baseball Game Preview: Columbus Blue Devils vs. Marion County Eagles

The Columbus Blue Devils will challenge the Marion County Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Marion County will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Columbus extended their winning streak to three on Saturday. The Blue Devils came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against Miller County.

The team relied heavily on Michael Nottleman, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamari Blackmon, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Marion County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Taylor County 2-1 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since February 13th.

Marion County's win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Columbus, their victory bumped their record up to 17-10.

Everything went Columbus' way against Marion County when the teams last played back in April of 2021, as Columbus made off with a 10-2 win. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
