Softball Recap: Vinton-Shellsburg Takes a Loss

Vinton-Shellsburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Alburnett Pirates, falling 10-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 back in May.

Vinton-Shellsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Alburnett, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 19 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Vinton-Shellsburg will face off against Independence at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.96 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. Alburnett has already played their next matchup (against North Linn), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
